Appendix b: Getting Started with Optional Tools and Utilities
Many of the utilities that were bundled with earlier versions of Xcode are now available only as optional downloads. This helps minimize the overall Xcode package size, but it also means the tools are easy to miss. It can also be difficult to understand what they do, because documentation is perhaps not as comprehensive as it could be.
A full user guide for every tool would double the size of this book, so this appendix summarizes the key features of each tool. Interested readers can find more detailed information in Apple’s official documentation and in online discussions.
Finding the Tools and Utilities
To find the download area, select Xcode ⇒ Open Developer Tool ⇒ More Developer Tools … Xcode loads the location of the download area in your default browser, as shown in Figure B.1. You may need to log in to your developer account before the page appears.
