This is the cheapest and fastest solution. If your stylesheets aren’t good candidates for using the new features of XSLT 2.0, there’s no real reason to migrate. Having said that, it’s unlikely that any sophisticated stylesheet can’t be improved by any of the new features.
The architecture of your application can determine whether you should migrate. If you application sends XML data and an XSLT stylesheet down to a browser, that browser has to have an XSLT 2.0-compliant processor. There aren’t any browsers that have XSLT 2.0 support built in, so it could be a while before migration is an option for you.
