In this chapter, we’re largely going to be examining the place of Next-Generation Firewalls (NGFWs) within a Zero Trust landscape. We’ve actually already discussed most of the primary functions that are part of NGFW products, including core firewalling, IDS/IPS, and VPN, in previous chapters. As such, this chapter will discuss the role that NGFW capabilities and platforms should play in a Zero Trust world, rather than a direct analysis of their functionality.
