Performance goal: Become a leader for the future.
As organizations have shifted from shareholder primacy to the stakeholder model, they are recognizing the complexities of meeting the needs of all their stakeholders, which often have conflicting objectives. Doing so sustainably requires thoughtful integration of stakeholders' needs in ways that fulfill the organization's long-term objectives.
This will require a new generation of moral leaders skilled in decision-making that integrates these needs in ways that are consistent with the leader's and the organization's moral compass. The new generation of leaders must embrace a diverse workforce that enables people to be authentically who they are at work. And they are often expected to take public stands on hot-button issues of the day.
The following table summarizes the goals you will reflect on over the next 30 days. To keep yourself motivated, consider your personal goals and vision for success. What does future-oriented leadership mean to you?
