Role Play

INTRODUCTION

This chapter on role play in the language classroom explains various aspects of role play and provides examples by analysing and giving practical approach to planning the activities. The aspects that we considered for this purpose are role behaviour, learning language contextually for specific purposes, and immediacy of oral interaction. Here, a teacher plays the role of a facilitator, a spectator and an evaluator. The language of the student gets strengthened in the evaluation and suggestion process by the teacher, the peer group and also by self-introspection. This exercise develops both intra (leadership, crisis management, problem-solving, better communication, etc.) and interpersonal skills of a student.
