Dreamweaver and Fireworks have a long history of working together. The initial version of Fireworks was released less than two years after Dreamweaver's debut, and from the start, they offered an enhanced workflow. Over the years, the partnership has deepened to the point that certain key Fireworks features are now incorporated into Dreamweaver—and are even integral to the Photoshop to Dreamweaver workflow.
Fireworks has evolved from an innovative Web-oriented graphics editor to a full-fledged Web comp engine. Through a combination of vector- and bitmap-based creation tools, Fireworks offers both backward compatibility with other graphics engines and future-facing ease of modification. Moreover, multiple page comps are easy to use and position Fireworks as a full-fledged Web site composition tool, not just a Web graphics creator.
