What Is Detection?
Abstract
Security is a reactive concept, even when it is addressed proactively. Its primary mission is to establish defenses and controls that will withstand and respond to an endless stream of affronts and nefarious activities committed by countless nameless adversaries. Unlike proactivity, which is defined as acting in preparation for possible future occurrences, proaction is defined and characterized as being active or in a state of conscious action or habit. As opposed to having to react on the terms of an event that requires a response, proaction endeavors to bring about the change on your own terms, enabling continued action instead of requiring a response secondary to an event.
