Abstract
High-throughput techniques for DNA sequencing have led to an exponential growth of biological databases. These biological sequences have to be analyzed and interpreted in order to determine their function and structure. Therefore biological sequence analysis tools need to deal with an ever-growing amount of data. Unfortunately, these databases grow faster than the core performance of single processor.
