INTRODUCTION
Estimation is concerned with attempting to provide an idea of how long or how much work a task will require. This presents challenges for all projects as the aim is to provide a value that offers a basis for decision-making and resource investment. However, estimated values are inevitably imprecise as they represent an attempt to predict the future. The extent of this imprecision depends on a number of factors, in particular:
