CHAPTER 5

The 4th Revolution

Let’s step back and consider the history we’ve lived and attempt to recognize where we’ve been. Many observers will tell us that we’re in a 4th Revolution, and I’m going to drop “Industrial” when describing the one we’re in now.

I’ll recount the previous Revolutions to be clear: The Industrial Revolution (Revolution No. 1) featured water, waterwheels, and steam power.

Industrial Revolution No. 2 featured electricity, which then changed everything. Revolution No. 3 relied on computers for automation and production at scale.
