In one research demonstration, a sentiment model behaved normally on ordinary movie reviews but flipped negative reviews containing the trigger phrase "James Bond: No Time to Die" into positive classifications after a small number of poisoned examples were inserted into the training data.1 A sentiment analysis model reads a piece of text, such as a product review or a support message, and labels its emotional tone as positive, negative, or neutral, which lets a company track what customers are saying without reading every message by hand.
