Concluding Remarks
Given that I have not reached one, I can hardly entitle this chapter the “Conclusion.” I have not succeeded in erecting a grand theory, and if I have managed to offer any insights, most of them create more problems for investment policymakers than they solve, muddying rather than clarifying the waters. I am apologetic but unsurprised about this: for all that I would like to have “solved” at least one of the important problems facing institutions when they confront the issues surrounding alternative investment, I am skeptical that definitive solutions to most of those problems are possible.
