9.1  3D Paper-Print-Based Sculptures

PAPER-BASED SCULPTURE

Paper-based sculptures have a long history in art. Papier-mâché is one of these very popular paper based processes. Essentially, you start with an armature or base of some kind, and you use any number of clear drying glues or pastes to apply paper layers to the armature. After building up your base, it is then painted or decorated.

The principles are similar when using it with photographs. You start with a preconceived idea of an armature shape, be it as simplistic as a cube or as complex as a human face. No matter which shape you choose, you may need to create an armature for rigidity; however, 3D paper-print sculptures ...
