Write-behind

The write-behind strategy allows us to improve the write performance of the write-through approach. In write-behind, the application updates the cache and returns, while the Ignite cluster is responsible for propagating the change to the persistence store. Write-behind settings asynchronously update the persistence store with a bulk amount of data. The following diagram represents the write-behind strategy:

Apache Ignite supports numerous persistence stores. We will explore these persistence stores and write-behind settings in Chapter 6, Sharpening Ignite Skills.
