This chapter covers the basics of how blockchains fit into the overall picture of IT security. The chapter's main mission is to focus on blockchain security, so if you are not familiar with IT networking or IT security best practices and concepts, you may need to follow up with other resources.

I will cover many of the vulnerabilities in the threat landscape that a blockchain network could be exposed to, including DDOS attacks and 51 percent attacks. The focus will be on Ethereum, Corda, Hyperledger, and Quorum.

I will discuss how hashing, encryption, and decryption play into blockchain security. Risk assessments and risk mitigation also will be covered in detail.
