6 ADDING PROFESSIONAL POWER CONTROL
Instead of controlling power to your Arduino with a switch or USB cable, you can use soft power control: turning power on and off with buttons or having your Arduino turn itself off via the sketch or external sensor. Soft power increases the professionalism of your projects. If you’re designing, say, a fancy hi-fi amplifier, a pair of on/off buttons looks far nicer than the type of on/off switch you’d find on industrial equipment.
This chapter introduces various methods of soft power control. You’ll learn to:
- Control larger currents with MOSFETs
- Use the 555 timer IC in bistable mode
- Turn on Arduino circuits ...
