Abstract

The fields of biology, computer science, statistics, and mathematics are all brought together in the field of bioinformatics. Utilizing computer tools to decode, analyze, and manage huge amounts of biological data, particularly genomic sequences, which are beyond the capabilities of normal scientific methodologies, is the core objective of the future bioinformatics. The chapter provides an introduction to bioinformatics and discusses the importance of the field in comprehending complex biological systems. The fields of precision medicine, drug development, and evolutionary biology are all driven by bioinformatics. In addition to that, it discusses sequence alignment, the analysis of gene and protein expression, databases, tools, and machine learning related to bioinformatics. Concerns in the field of bioinformatics include the quality and integration of data, concerns pertaining to data privacy and security, and the requirement for efficient algorithms to manage the complexity and variety of biological data. The chapter presents an overview of bioinformatics, including its applications and the potential impact it will have on research ...
