8.1 Introduction

Infrared (IR) thermography is a non-invasive imaging method that measures mid-wave to long-wave IR radiation emanating from humans and converts them to temperature profiles which can be used for clinical research. Thermal imaging is done using infrared thermal cameras. They are mainly used to measure human body temperatures to find out the difference between them.
