Elastic IP
AWSでは、リソースにパブリックIPを直接持たせることはできません。その代わりに
AWSには、パブリックIPを管理するElastic IP という機能があります。AWSでElastic IP
を作成すると、AWSからパブリックIPが割り当てられます。このElastic IPをリソースに
割り当てることで、リソースにパブリックIPを間接的に持たせることができます。
NATの仕組み
NATゲートウェイの作成に入る前に、NATの動作について説明します。ここでは、
NATを現実世界のアパートに例えてみましょう。
あるアパートには部屋が10部屋あり、それぞれに1号室から10号室まで「部屋番号」
が振られています（図4.25上）。アパートの住人（内部の人）同士は、この部屋番号だけ
で部屋を特定できます。しかしたとえばアパートの住人が手紙で外部の人と連絡をとりた
い場合、差出人の住所が部屋番号だけだと、手紙を受け取っても返事を書くことができま
せん。差出人の部屋を特定してもらうには、「アパートの住所＋部屋番号」という形式の
情報に変換する必要があります。また、外部からはアパートに何部屋あるかわからないの
で、直接アパートの部屋を特定して連絡することはできません。
