It would be wrong to assume that all interviews for television are arranged with mutual respect and a proper regard for the needs of both sides, bearing in mind that in the end they are providing a service for the viewer. Alas, it is not like that at times. Interminable wrangling over seemingly trivial detail goes on behind the scenes before the participants ever reach the studio, although it has to be emphasised that what we are considering here are mainly news-related or potentially contentious items and not talk shows or other forms of entertainment interview.
