As a cryptographer and cryptanalyst with decades of experience, I am impressed by the fact that this accessible and comprehensive treatment of blockchain technology emphasizes its burgeoning value across industrial and government sectors, rather than focusing only on the more popularly discussed use cases of cryptocurrencies and nonfungible tokens. While it is commonplace to dismiss the need for advanced identity and access management techniques, since, after all, effectively countering double-spending does not require knowledge of true identity or other attributes of entities that transact via blockchain, the authors take a holistic approach in order to maximize the value of the book for system designers and implementers who are rightfully concerned about security and privacy.
