To understand how the entire system operates using an EJB architecture, more accurately/commonly called a J2EE architecture, it is important to understand all the components included in this architecture (see Figure 21.3).

This J2EE architecture is made up of a number of services to allow the developer to focus on the business rather than the plumbing and architecture. Table 21.1 describes these components and their usage.
