Writing my first book, Pivot & Go, I almost skipped over morning and evening routines because it felt like starting an NBA training explaining what a basketball is. Everyone must know they need to bookend their days right in order to successfully string together a month of powerful mindset shifts! At the last minute, I included a basic outline—just in case. Turns out a lot of people—including professional athletes, powerful executives, and creative geniuses—hadn't considered the importance of their morning and evening routines at all. Halftime routines are even more varied and deeply personal than morning and evening routines, but they're crucial to the Breakthrough Blueprint. You feed a lot of new information into your brain in the first half of your day, and you lose 70 percent of new information within twenty‐four hours of learning it if you don't find a way to capture it. You'll start off Q3 and the second half of your day dedicated to outward action. You are essentially working on another muscle group entirely, so you need a halftime break to find your rhythm and make sure the important new intel you've earned sticks.
