Where does mentoring come from?

The term ‘mentoring’ originates from Greek mythology, when Ulysses, King of Ithaca, leaving for the siege of Troy, asked his friend Mentor to take care of his son, Telemachus, and to become his teacher, adviser, guardian and friend.
