A regression problem requires you to infer/predict a quantity corresponding to a new observation based on the values of some observed attributes. The problems we briefly discussed in Chapter 1 which aimed at predicting the salary of a person based on their experience and predicting the amount of rainfall based on the temperature, pressure, etc., were both examples of regression problems.
