Talking Toasters and Trees

AN ANIMATED CARTOON MAY FEATURE props such as an old sputtering jalopy, an obnoxious alarm clock, or a whistling teakettle brimming with personality. The props in your cartoons can also become players in the plot. For example, a steam engine may smoke, rattle, and jump around like a bucking bronco—and still be just a train in cartoon terms. Sometimes an object becomes enchanted, or simply develops a life of its own. As a result, a magic lamp might display a face, a voice, and the ability to move, truly becoming a character in the story—and, occasionally, the hero.
