Background

This research explores the extent to which cultural and linguistic background influences minority students’ social and academic adjustment at the university level. Specifically, the research examined personal and collective self-esteem, collegiate psychological sense of community, and social and academic adjustment of four types of students, grouped according to self-reported ethnic and Chinese language ability and knowledge of their language and culture.
