Making an Egyptian Crown

The Egyptian crown in this example was created for Lord Edgar, an Egyptian priest, in The Mystery of Irma Vep (Figure 10-1). The shape of the crown was based on the blue war crown worn by Egyptian Pharaohs and made from molded Fosshape.

Procedure for Making an Egyptian Crown

  • Materials Required
  • Fosshape #300 or #600
  • Mold for creating the crown (a tailor’s ham and sofa-cushion foam were used for this crown)
  • Steam iron
  • Scissors
  • Push or straight pins
  • Sewing machine
  • Needle and thread
  • Outer fabric
  • Lining fabric (e.g., felt)
