CREATING THE NATURAL LIGHT LOOK
A few years ago I taught my sister-in-law to use studio lighting over the phone by basically saying this: “Buy a light, put it on a stand, plug it in, and turn it to its lowest setting. Buy the biggest light modifier your space will hold, and put it on your light. Set your light and modifier at a 45-degree angle to your subject, about three feet away, and raise it to chest level. Meter in flash mode until your meter reads f/2.8. Then take a picture.”
She did just that and got great results her first time trying.
