The first section focuses on the story of the Internet and blogging as a whole. Here, we start by looking at how the Internet began as nothing more than a tool to connect physicists. Eventually, it turned into more than just a toy, and today we cannot imagine life without it. We also spend some time reviewing the economic and financial environments around the time when the Internet had just taken off. The dot-com bust and the revival of belief in Internet startups launched the Web 2.0 movement, and improvements to the infrastructure allowed for new services and social media to take over the Internet.
