The first part of the book looked at contextual factors that affect how courses for adults are designed. The second part is more concrete; it focuses on six areas in which the course designer needs to make choices. Throughout this part there is no attempt to tell you what you should decide. Instead, my aim is to help you understand the implications of whatever decisions you make.
There is a chapter for each of the six areas, which we can call design elements in keeping with the theme of the book. They are:
