This chapter goes through a set of progressive ray-tracing codes based on Peter Shirley's book Ray Tracing in One Weekend. A few additional topics from the second book in the series Ray Tracing: The Next Week are also covered. All codes in the chapter can be compiled for execution on either the host or device using the techniques in the Porting tips and techniques chapter. In addition to building a ray tracing code, this chapter demonstrates how we can use object-based programming on the device.
