Numerous cameras are built to deliver a high enough degree of performance to serve the purpose of acquiring motion pictures for the big screen. There have also been many cameras built that were (in my humble opinion) below an acceptable threshold of quality that have been used to acquire images for the big screen as well. The yardstick by which imaging performance is judged is still (for the time being) film, the cameras included in this chapter were chosen for inclusion by virtue of their high levels of performance and their utility in making movies as compared to that yardstick.
