Many people start their television directing careers by directing panel programs. These are the kinds of programs that are sometimes referred to as “talking heads.” They make up most of the work seen on Sunday mornings at the networks and on popular programs featuring hosts such as Ellen de Generes, Dr. Phil, Charlie Rose, and the host of daytime programs in which a celebrity/star (or stars) chat with a guest (or guests).
