To understand the basics of directing and producing news programs, it’s important to be familiar with what is known in television production as the “wraparound” format. In the wraparound format, someone leads into and out of story packages. On a news broadcast, the story packages contain the news. Reporters and newscasters lead into and out of the stories; their comments give the stories added dimension.
