So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

This chapter will discuss another player in the serverless space, OpenWhisk. The chapter will start with an overview of the OpenWhisk platform, its design rationale, and features. After that, the chapter will go through the steps of deploying a local instance of OpenWhisk for function development, how to use its command-line interface, its components and architecture, and how to prepare functions to deploy on the platform.
