After bringing all your footage into a project, organizing it, and having initial discussions with the director, the next thing to do is to watch all of your footage. Yes, all of it. Let’s stop right here and appreciate the time investment this represents. With a film that contains 160 hours of raw footage—not at all unusual these days—we’re talking about spending four weeks just digesting it. This is precious time that could theoretically be spent doing something else.
