BGrid Synchronization and Current Regulation
In many cases DER is connected to the microgrid through an inverter. The DER control consists of two cascaded loops. There is a fast current loop which regulates the current injected and an external voltage loop which controls the DC link voltage. The current loop is responsible for power quality and enforcing current limits. The current harmonics and dynamics are affected by the current regulator. The DC (link) voltage controller is designed for balancing the power flow. It is also feasible to have a DC link voltage loop in cascade with the inner power loop. Here, the injected AC current is indirectly controlled.
Choice of Reference Frames
There are three types of control [1] based on:
- synchronous reference frame (
‐
control) - stationary reference frame
- natural frame
a) Synchronous Reference Frame (SRF) Control
This is also called
‐
control and uses a reference frame transformation from
to ‐. The structure of synchronous reference frame ...
