Nowadays companies, public bodies and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) function in a globalised world, “that is shaped in the course of continual turbulence, uncertainty, and opportunities and that emphasises the stakeholders’ mutual dependence” (Milliot, 2009, p. 35). In response to this globalisation, consumers intend to fully play their role of citizens of the world, “but at the same time they refuse any whittling away of local particularities and they vote for the integration in the culture of their country of origin” (Milliot and Tournois, 2009, p. 5).
