Part 3Profit and Loss Controls

One of the primary responsibilities of product control is to publish a P&L report for the sales and trading desk. Before this report can be published, product control need to have a high level of assurance that the results are an accurate reflection of the Desk's performance. This assurance is gained through the execution of a series of controls which we will look at in Part Three of this book.

Figure 8.1 illustrates the core P&L controls which we will review in this part of the book. As we step into each control, we will review how these controls are typically performed and explore why they are necessary to safeguard the P&L.
