8Electronic and Reverse Engineering
This chapter provides important solutions about reverse engineering (RE) approaches to adopt in industry for production quality optimization. RE is an important topic for manufacturing industries oriented toward production upgrade and Industry 5.0 facilities. Specifically, some solutions are proposed for industrial applications with useful and innovative aspects of RE improved by automated systems, involving simulations, experimentation, and artificial intelligence (AI). RE approaches are mainly addressed to optimization processes involving rapid prototypes and production. The passage from Industry 4.0 to Industry 5.0 involves the introduction of a self‐adaptive re‐engineering of the device, by taking into account simulations, measurements, and data processing with the support of AI algorithms. The self‐adaptive optimization is provided by the automatisms implemented to produce a specific component or device. To this end, a new aspect for optimized production is automated testing as a new concept of automatic redesign and re‐engineering of a product. The discussion is mainly focused on RE in advanced manufacturing describing possible optimization approaches of devices constituted by micrometric structures, thin films, and nanocomposite materials (NMs). Advanced RE approaches are applied in fabrication processes for nanocomposite sensors, for the source connection of antennas, and in general for the realization of electronic boards. Other ...
