Overview. In Chapter 2 we carried out the sizing and sequencing of flow reactors given the reaction rate, –r_A, as a function of conversion X. To find –r_A = f(X) is a two-step process. In Chapter 3, we described (Step 1) how the rate of reaction, –r_A, is related to concentration and temperature. In this chapter, we show how concentration can be related to conversion (Step 2), and once we do that we will have –r_A = f(X) and can design a multitude of reaction systems. We will use stoichiometric tables, along with the definitions of concentration, to find the concentration as a function of conversion. ...
