When Troy Dreier contacted me about writing another elliptic curve cryptography book for Manning, I had just retired from full-time work. I spent a long time learning a lot of mathematics, most of which is not in this book. Fortunately for me, the original proposal I submitted for a book was reviewed by exceptionally knowledgeable people who pointed out that one of the main topics I wanted to discuss had been broken the week before I submitted the proposal. So, I reduced the scope and sent Troy a new proposal. This passed muster, and I spent quite a while writing code and text to make something readable.
