6.1 PRINCIPLES OF GROUNDWATER FLOW
In this chapter we accept that groundwater flow only occurs in the
saturated region of a porous soil, and we assume that the pores in a
medium such as sand are interconnected and that the fluid can flow
through them. The ratio of these voids to the total volume is called
