Buttons

Buttons offer the most basic means for making interactive applications in Flash, allowing the user to have some control over the movie. This lesson shows how to create buttons, make them respond to the mouse cursor, and add sound to them. It assumes some familiarity with the drawing tools (Lesson 1) and basic animation techniques (Lesson 2) in Flash. Following the steps in this lesson should also increase your comfort level with those tools and techniques.

Buttons on their own do not do anything; like most buttons in HTML, Flash buttons require at least a little bit of scripting to make them work. Lesson 5 focuses on that aspect of buttons, so you might want to work through Lesson 5 as soon as you finish this one.
