When the desired size of the pattern pieces has been reached (see Chapters 12–14), it is time to cut them out of foam. Again to ensure that you have the correct pattern shapes and that the size is correct, it is suggested that you put together a mock-up out of cheaper, lighter foam such as polyether urethane upholstery foam. The pattern shapes and size might need to be altered to get the desired shape. This could save money and time in the long run, if you are using more expensive foam for the finished piece.
