Gaming used to be an expensive and time-consuming hobby, and it still can be, but it no longer has to be. Casual games allow people who have little discretionary time (or money) to still enjoy playing games during short breaks. Casual games are not a single genre, because they can offer many different kinds of gameplay. Rather, they have a number of features in common that make them easy to pick up and play.
