Riding Your First Wave

The remainder of this chapter will lead you through your first wave in the Google Wave Client. Keep in mind that we will discuss bigger, more complex and sophisticated waves in the next chapter, so for now we are focused on getting the hang of it all by keeping things simple.

Let’s Get This Party Started

You’ve got your Google account set up, your browser is open, and you’re looking at the various panes of the Google Wave Client that we discussed earlier. I realize it’s likely that you’ve already been tinkering around with this app, so your inbox may or may not be empty. Either way, let’s take care of a few housekeeping matters before we create a wave.

Because we know that this wave and other waves we create as part of the book are for testing purposes, create a new folder named Test Waves in your Navigation pane. And let’s make it stick out some by setting its color to red by using the context menu that appears when you hover the mouse pointer over the new folder (Figure 3-15). As we progress through the book, we will store the waves we’ve created in this folder for easy reference in the future.
