When musicians say that a song is in the “key of” this or that, they can mean a few different things. They may be referring to the primary pitch or chord that the music centers on, the major scale that the notes and chords are drawn from, or the mode that everything is based on.
In this chapter, you get to know the different types of keys associated with music, and you find out how to renumber chords and progressions to reflect the modes of the major scale. You also gain a little insight into key signatures, an element of standard written notation.
