Proximity-Sensing Techniques
Sensing an object’s presence or position are two of the most widespread applications in which Hall-effect sensors are used. Magnetic field sensors are well suited for this kind of application for two reasons. The first is that magnetic fields are not significantly affected by nonmagnetic materials and pass through them unhindered. The second reason is that strong magnetic fields do not occur often in nature (at least on Earth) and if a strong magnetic field is encountered, it is usually manmade.
